Celebrating 25 Years of Netcare: A Look Back at Our Journey
From Humble Beginnings to Netcare Limited
Netcare’s journey began in December 1997, originally operating as Byrnes Computer Services. What started as a one-man business quickly gained traction, and by 6th September 1999, we were officially incorporated.
Then, on 7th December 2007, we rebranded as Netcare Limited, and the name has stayed with us ever since.
Back when we were still known as Byrnes Computer Services.
As we all know, a business is only as strong as its people, and our current Managing Director Chris Lee, has been a vital part of our journey.
He first joined us in August 2005 as a trainee technician and quickly advanced to senior technician. During a pivotal six-month period, Chris took the reins while Craig underwent surgery. Although he left in May 2011, Chris returned in April 2017 as a shareholder.
By February 2018, he stepped into the role of Managing Director with a 50% stake, cementing his place in Netcare’s leadership.
Craig's Legacy and the Building of Netcare
Before Netcare came to life, Craig’s IT journey kicked off in the early 1980s with Honeywell in North Sydney. From managing accounting systems to playing key roles in fast-growing IT companies, Craig’s career has taken him across industries and continents. He even spent time in the UK overseeing government systems, and in Hong Kong, supporting Amnesty International.
In the mid-1990s, Craig returned to New Zealand to start his own business. With no clients but plenty of grit, Byrnes Computer Services was born. Flyers were distributed across Auckland, PO Box drops were made, and slowly but surely, the client base grew. By the early 2000s, Craig partnered with Medtech, providing IT solutions for medical centres and specialists throughout Auckland. Before long, Netcare’s reputation for reliable, responsive service was flying high.
Celebrating 25 Years and Looking Ahead
Fast forward to today, and Netcare has grown into a team of over a dozen passionate professionals. Every day, we strive to deliver exceptional service to our clients - some of whom have been with us since the very beginning. We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who has played a part in our success.
Recently, we celebrated a huge milestone - our 25-year anniversary! We marked the occasion with an unforgettable evening of food, drinks, and plenty of shared memories. We would have loved to invite everyone who’s been part of our journey, but space was limited. Even so, we felt the presence of everyone who has helped build Netcare into what it is today.
Looking ahead, we’re excited about the next 25 years. With our unwavering commitment to innovation, top-notch service, and making IT simple, we can’t wait to see what the future holds for Netcare’s next chapter.
